Whatever happened to Denton Ryan WR William Dowdy (6-5, 215)?

I never saw any indication that he was a Division 1 prospect other than on this board.

You didn't? I saw it mentioned on the other board, for what it's worth, and some recruiting magazine site that did an article on all the Denton Ryan guys. Battle and Moss got all the headlines, of course, and the other receiver (Philip Jones or something?) also got a little more pub than Dowdy, but they said he definitely had a D-I body and ability. If I remember correctly (this is several months back now), I think the article mentioned "serious interest" (no idea how serious, of course) from SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Arkansas and .... Mizzou maybe? I think LaTech or Louisiana-Lafayette also was in there someplace, but maybe that was on one of the other guys.

Last I saw, he ran a 4.55 in the 40. With that size and speed, you'd think someone would take a chance on him, right?

One of the great mysteries of recruiting this past season. He is big, strong and fast. 6-5 about 220 with good hands. Didn't even sign with a juco as far as I can tell. Maybe he is waiting on scores or grades.

If he gets the grades and test scores, maybe he'd qualify for financial aid? What a good-looking walk-on he'd be!

I remember someone stating on this board that Bennett liked Dowdy a lot.

I'd like to see the Ponies somehow add Dowdy, which along with Jay Taylor would give them two huge targets.
