Defensive tackle

People have written a great deal about Frank Okam of Lake Highlands being perhaps the top defensive tackle in the state next year. To this point, I haven't seen anything about him even considering SMU as a backup plan. In the meantime, there's another high big DT in the area who might be worth looking at:

James McClinton
Garland (Lakeview Centennial), Texas
6-1, 300, 5.2

Not sure who he's considering, of if he's even begun to narrow his choices.

The Insiders quotes Okam as saying he plans to camp at SMU but he is also quoted as listing 7 other schools as his favorites not SMU-its early.

We had a lot of success with the guys who attended camp at SMU last year. Wouldn't it be great if Coach Bennett can work some of that magic again with this guy!

I keep hoping we can get in the race for Kellen Heard, the big (6-6, 330-pound OL/DL from Wharton. He's really quick for a big guy - I read in the paper that he was timed at 4.9. And he's unbelievably strong.

Now that's big and quick. Any idea about academics?

I haven't heard anything, but that also means I haven't heard anything to think there's a concern there.

Heard's been offered by A&M, and probably by many others.

How productive was McClinton last year?
