I've seen Wilburn listed among the top 25 players in the state, although most lists I've seen have him listed bigger than that (usually in the 6'0", 190 range). Some people think he'll be a DB in college.

I had no idea Weatherford was such a hotbed for linemen. Robert Clark sounds like a beanpole for a blocker, but I guess coaches think he'll fill out. A lot. That Hartman kid sounds like a beast, at least based on his numbers. A few more tall, thick linemen would serve us well.

the coachs will send out feelers to any kid with a heartbeat right now-all this indicates is that the kids have interest in SMU-some may not receive a scholarship from a Division 1 school. Its too early to tell because the players haven't been fully evaluated. Note one of those Weatherford kids RUNS(I'm being kind) a 5.9. He ain't going to get an offer running that slow a 40. The ones that appear to be the better prospects as far as reputation at this early stage would include Jenkins, Chris Smith, Alvin Newhouse, Nic Redwine and of course the Lockey kid who committed to UT.

Good point, Stallion, I hadn't noticed that 40 that gets timed with an hourglass (or is it a sundial?)
Don't want anyone that slow. More importantly, Coach Bennett doesn't want anyone that slow.

If we're sending out contact information now, are we behind other schools? How does UT have 3 commits already? Do they do things differently?

Maybe our recruiting calendar needs to be accelerated a little.

Fred Walker can play. Best lineman Gilmer's had in years.

Rivals says Tyler Phillips is a LB who's considering Clemson, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, SMU, Dartmouth, Pennsylvania and Princeton.

How did SMU get on Phillips's list? Seems like he's in SEC country, with some Ivy League schools on his list. Is he a friend of Sturdivant or something?

4.78 is lightning quick for an offensive tackle prospect. If Coach Faucette can beef up Robert Clark and he maintains that quickness, he could be a star. Think Coach Bennett and his staff are already applying a full-court press?

He he already been offered?

Robert Clark looks at the moment like a tight end, not a tackle. He's very long, but he's real lean. If he's supposed to be a tackle in college, he's got a lot of eating and lifting to do. Kid looks downright skinny. Then again, that quickness can't be ignored.

Chris Smith (DE/TE) of Allen, Texas is carrying a 3.6 GPA. The last report I saw had him at 6'5", 250 and running a 4.7 in the 40. He's benched 320 and has squatted 460.
As a junior, he was named all-district, all-county and all-area. He had 53 tackles (27 for losses), 7 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries in his junior year.
He's listing Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Kansas State, SMU, Texas, Iowa, Oklahoma, LSU, Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and TCU. He's been offered by all of them.

Rumor has it Chris Smith is committed to A&M, or will be soon.

I heard there was a top-level Dallas-area defensive end at the Red/Blue game Saturday. Any idea who it was?
