Welcome, J'Marcus to the Hilltop.

Commitment No. 18 is in for SMU, as multipurpose athlete J’Marcus Rhodes (Orange, Texas/West Orange-Stark) said he gave his verbal pledge on Sunday.

Welcome J'Marcus. In the near 99% chance you don't make the NFL for a long, injury free career and you do graduate from SMU, you'll recall this decision as one of the best in your life. Or you do make the NFL and have every member of mustang nation following your every step. Trust me, walking relatively pain free at 35 with an SMU degree is a good way to go through life. Having said that, I hope you tear up the competition on the Hilltop. Looking forward to rooting for you.

I noticed that as well. A guy at 6'2" and a 4.5 forty how is he not getting more offers?

ATH J’marcus Rhodes (6-2, 185), West Orange Stark

Committed To: SMU

Other Offers: Lamar, McNeese State, Stephen F. Austin

The Skinny: This commitment came out of left field. Rhodes picked up his first FBS offer on Thursday and three days later became a Mustang with his commitment to SMU. Rhodes is pretty underrated considering athleticism, size and 4.5 speed. He can play on either side of the ball but will likely play safety on the Hilltop. SMU may have just found a valuable diamond in the rough, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he picked up a few more offers before signing day.

Sounds like even thought he committed to SMU that he is waiting on other BCS schools the offer like Mississippi State. Video shows he could be a really good big cover corner that can hit.
