Where did you hear that? There was speculation that there was a good chance of it, because of his close relationship with his brother, but did that really happen?

If so, and if what they say about him is true, that's great news!

Rick Alonzo of the Dallas Morning News talked to Massey's father, Richuel Massey, Sr., Tuesday morning. The elder Massey told Alonzo that the rumor that Donald has committed to SMU is just that: a rumor. His father said that Donald "is getting letters from all over the country," and indicated that Donald is not close to making a decision.

Richuel Massey, Sr. did say, however, that he would love for both of his sons to go to the same school. But he's going to give Donald the freedom to chose his own school.

That's too bad. Don't give up faith, PonyFans - Massey needs to join his brother on the Hilltop.
Close the deal, coaches!

Does anyone have any information on his size, namely his height? There is nothing I would love more than to pull in a giant STUD receiver in the 6'4 range next year.

Sorry, he's not that big.

As of this spring, he was 5-11 and about 175-180 pounds. What makes him so dangerous is his remarkable speed (he's been clocked in the mid-4.2s).

If you want big and fast, look no further than the WR at St. Mark's: Kenton Thornton. That kid looks unbelievable. 6-4 or 6-5, 210 or 215, and really really fast .... and really strong, too. He's got college star written all over him.

I'm glad Kenton Thornton was mentioned. I hear that he is being courted by the top programs. I have even heard that he flew out to Miami to check out their facilities. I understand that he plays WR, but have heard that he is an even more leathal saftey and is one that could be an instant impact player. Are we actively pursuing this guy? It would be great to keep him at home in Dallas.

Thornton is a fantastic safety. In his team's defense, where he's always the best athlete on the field, he sort of sits back and plays center field in passing situations, and then uses his great speed and jumping ability to chase down the ball and either knock down the ball or the player, if he can't make the interception (he has exceptional hands). And he's a brutal hitter.

In running situations, he creeps up toward the line, almost like an extra linebacker. At St. Mark's, he's bigger than all of the linebackers, so he's a vital part of their run defense. When he gets up a head of steam and lowers his shoulder against a small RB, it can get ugly. He's not a cocky player at all, which would be understandable considering how much better he is than everyone he plays against. But he is confident.

As a receiver, I've heard him compared to Terrell Owens, Amani Toomer and Roy Williams (not that he's as polised as those guys, but because he's big and fast and plays a similar style.) Defensively, his size and hitting ability draw comparisons to Ronnie Lott and Charles Woodson, while his footwork and coverage technique have been compared to those of Miami's Sam Madison or New England's Ty Law.

PLEASE don't misread what I'm saying - nobody is foolish enough to say he's as good as those guys. But he has tons of potential, and the tools are there. The comparisons are based on what he could become.
