That and getting his Lamar HS teammate to come to SMU. Lancaster might have had a big hand in it.

Indeed.
Let's break the new record on Saturday against Memphis. That should finally yield some headlines for us.
I'm happier that we beat out Wazzou than UH. We just need to steal two more 4 stars from him and we'll be even.

I believe Lancaster had more to do with it than the win over UH imo.

Oh, I'm sure it did. Just pointing out I'm happy we beat out the pirate for one as well.

True. Also, here is a quote form him.
"I wanted to play with Cedric"
Glad we got him.

Free story on (scout?) makes it sound like both would have gone to Houston if Lancaster had been offered. Hope they don't both jump ship...

Talks about the education here vs. there though. I wish more kids understood that there is a very small chance they'll be playing in the league and its in their interest to pursue the best education possible.

I think they both came here because of JP. Kind of tied to him. Interesting that none are WRs (although Lancaster may play that role, he's not a "pure" WR). Will be interesting when JP gets a WR of his own. Most likely will be a good one.
So this class has some studs . . .
Gaines
Taylor
Sheads
Minor
We are one or two more high 3s (or a 4?) away from being best class post-DP IMHO. 2 years ago our class was stellar but top recruit didn't make it. Last year, it started with a boom and fizzled but still the best class post-DP IMHO. This class is shaping up as a rival to the others, and I feel we are just getting started. (Man, imagine if we had beaten aTm and/or Baylor).
And all the doom and gloomers saying we are in real trouble in the new BE if our recruiting doesn't improve tenfold need to look at the facts. Per Rivals, we are ranked #41 right now with only Rutgers at #30 ahead of us. And Rutgers is only that high because they have a 4 star. Our rankings don't take into account our 4 star transfer (Sheads), so I think it's safe to say that we have the best class coming in of all BE and was probably close the last 2 years as well (I haven't checked those).
We will be very competitive with the nBE right out of the gate.
So 2010 was best recruiting class post-DP up to that point IMHO. Then 2011 was even better. Could 2012 rival 2011? We shall see.

As much as I want to be as optimistic as you, we know that the rankings are based on stars which are very inflated. We aren't like an all freshman team so that's why is bloomers are worried about the weak recruiting in terms of our commits over the past couple years including this one were never actively offered and recruited by other schools. Some of them came from big name schools where you know BCS teams saw them play and didn't think much about them. Yes 4 guys are great to have but if every year we only get 4 decent players (not counting on our demand for certain positions) we are screwed. We need at least 10 decent recruits a year to be competitive.

none of our recruits have any bcs offers. I know this topic gets beaten to death, but it can't be a good sign when the schools you are playing don't want the guys you are offering scholarships to. I think June and staff ARE good evaluators of talent (for most positions besides QB), but I don't think you can argue that every single player is a "hidden talent".

That is simply not true. Your point is obviously valid, but when you make things up you end up undermining your argument. Why do that?
