SMU has 22 commits now (3 with BCS offers)

Since we only have 3 players with BCS offers we are putting the majority of our future in the hands the under the radar/under recruited players. Maybe next year we can beat Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and TCU when we play them with this type of recruiting.

How has that really worked out in the last 10 years? At least we beat TCU twice I suppose.......

Yep, that's unfortunate. But we do have some pretty good players in this class (Taylor and Minor don't have any BCS offers I think but they seem to be great recruits, I don't know why they don't have BCS offers) plus the stud transfer. I'm hoping we get a few more guys once it's all said and done. I think JP will start improving each year as he develops relationships for SMU specifically.
Still definitely need at least one more young, energetic recruiter with Texas ties.

When we get the big east money that can actually go to paying the coaches salary, maybe the CoC could pay some nice $$$ for a great Texas college recruiter. We need one desperately. I'm all for the diamond in the rough only if its to like 10-15 kids. We need at least 10-15 solid recruits that other schools also see the talent. It's not like we have to go after what Alabama is going but at least on the TCUs and WVU of the BCS world.

Agreed.
My point is that we have about 10-15 of those guys here now that we never had before post-DP (either on the roster new or coming in . . . Sanders, Richard, Gaines, Gilbert, Shead, Richardson, Lowe, Holloway, etc etc and some others have a few decent quality offers like Virginia, Iowa State that I'm not including in the list above) . . . much better than previous years and so we are making progress and moving in the right direction and we should start seeing that progress show up on the field now and in the next 2-3 years (there's always a slight lag) so be patient (we are already seeing the improvement over conference competitors ala the Houston game) . . . obviously I'd much rather prefer 80% of the class every year to have quality BCS offers along with 1-2 absolute studs but we are not there yet . . . patience young grasshoppers . . . we are getting there . . . if we are not at least at 50% there in the 2014 class I will be getting concerned but I think JP's results will start kicking in then -- already seeing some of it now in his very first year . . . need another recruiter, though, absolutely . . .

I will agree that we need at least 1 more stud recruiter.

we need more than just 1 more recruiter to be competitive-we need a massive retirement party.

Did you almost say something positive? That's got to be a mistype.

You might be right.

Um, technically, don't all our recruits have at least one BSC offer? Since they are being recruited to play at a BSC school (starting in 2013 football) aren’t they being recruited to a BSC school? And if they are recruited by UH, UCF or SDSU aren’t those technically BSC school offers as well?
We aren't selling CUSA to recruits at this point but Big East and BSC potential.

No because they are not currently BCS schools. So no current BCS offers. It is still pretty bad even of you added those schools, no real way to spin around it. Hopefully next year will be better.

Dee Paul who is committed to SMU just picked up an offer from Oklahoma State and he will visit there and Texas Tech who he is expecting will offer. So That now makes 4 with BCS offers. That number should be 15.

OK...and unfortunately it's looking like he'll end up taking one of those offers when it's all said and done.

I suspect that some of our recruits will bolt as soon as they get a major BCS offer (assuming they get one). We could lose some key commits which would really impact the quality of this class.
