Jordan Dickerson (current freshman) offers - Auburn, Providence, South Carolina
Sterling Brown (HS commit) offers - DePaul, Illinois, Memphis, Miami, Minnesota, Missou, Neb, USC
Ben Moore (HS commit) offers - DePaul, Illinois, Minnesota, Missou
Yanick Moreira (JUCO commit) - Baylor, Oregon, Pitt

Now this is BCS quality recruiting....

what a difference a nice aggressive staff, the right connections, and a lot of effort do.

Bball is slightly different than football.

At the end of the day top 25 is top 25 so not really. If anything there is less margin for error in basketball.

Not really. You have to go for the best to get the best not under the radar players. Doh's classes looked nothing like this.

3 good players can turn around a class and an entire bball team. Not so on a football team.

I do agree with the point about having a head coach that gives a damn about recruiting though. LB is definitely more energized.

Which means our poor fball recruiting is even more damaging

You have to aim high to get high caliber recruits and recruit them very hard. LB and his entire staff are more energized than June and most of his staff. You can sit back and let the GM draft for you in pro football but it takes serious recruiting energy to get some of those kids. Brown's staff is not made up of s lot of 60's who can't relate to the kids or parents. His 2 stud recruiters and most of his staff can relate and talk to recruits that come from an inner city background. In my opinion, the SMU football staff is putting a heavy burden on JP to get to all the inner city schools in Dallas and Houston to get the high caliber players. They need more good young minority coaches that can relate to the inner city players to get them to SMU imo. At any rate I am happy for Coach Brown because he knows what needs to be done and is doing it. And Brown and his staff are not saying we still have some things to that need to be put in place before we can recruit well. They are just doing it.

I'd be the first to pile on jones and his recruiting efforts and I think Klemm showed that with the right effort, smu can go after BCS level recruits. However, basketball recruiting is a totally different beast. Top 100 players in basketball all think they are one or two and done and want to go to the nba. To have a coach like larry brown who has won an nba and NCAA title and has coached and been one of the top nba coaches for the last 20 years.....we'll, it's just not fair to say, hey, basketball is recruiting at a high level,,,,,why can't football....not to mention that the big east in basketball is an elite conference

Well then maybe SMU needs to get a football coach that gives the right effort and goes after BCS level recruits.

Cam Newton sure did a good job turning around Auburn.

Jones haters have to at least acknowledge the simple fact that the Big East football league is at best the fifth best conference. Big East in basketball? One or two. And THEREFORE....(work with me here)... it's easier to recruit in basketball versus football here. Hate Jones all you want but acknowledge that simple fact.
