There was a report down here that the Florida QB has Florida State as his clear-cut favorite. Sounds like if he gets an offer from the Seminoles, he's headed to Tallahassee. However, if they don't offer, he says his next group of favorites includes LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas.

Why would Penn State be on his list? It's cold, they've been down for a few years, their uniforms are ugly, their offense is boring, etc. The others make sense, but Penn State?

Does anyone know Florida State's QB situation? McPherson is gone, of course. Rix is still there, but he's .... a junior this year? A senior? How many QBs do they have waiting in the wings? And I assume they're chasing some of the top QB prospects in the country. Anyone know who?o

Rix should start. The guy who started the Sugar Bowl for the Seminoles -- Fabian Walker -- is back but he has shoulder problems and might never fulfill his potential (he was a 5-star recruit, the Georgia State Player of the Year as a senior and picked FSU over Georgia). The No. 2 QB will probably be a redshirt FR -- Wyatt Sexton -- who some FSU loyalists think only was offered by the Seminoles because his dad is FSU's running backs coach. Florida State would like to sign a top QB (or 2) in February, and reportedly is targeting a few out of state kids, including Rhett Bomar of Grand Prairie.

The reports of the demise of the FSU program are grossly premature, in my opinion. Rix will be OK, but that Wyatt kid is supposed to be tearing it up.
