I hear the lightning-fast FS/RB from Rockwall has rather successful parents who could handle the cost if he is asked to walk on. However, he is getting fairly serious recruiting interest (supposedly Tech really likes him), so if we ask him to walk on and other schools offer him a scholarship, we might be on the outside looking in.

If we ask him to pay his own way, we'll lose him. If he merits a scholarship, he should get one.

SMU is going full-speed after Williams. He will be attending SMU's camp, and from what I hear, the coaches hope to get a commitment from him this summer.
Tech also is enamored with Williams, and he reportedly is pretty split between the two schools. Should be a dogfight, and other schools could enter the race before it's over. Based on what I'm hearing so far, I expect him to wait until sometime during the 2003 season before he makes a decision.
