In Marcus Herford, you have Coach Bennett's prototype QB. He's very similar to current Kansas State QB Ell Roberson, and even resembles Michael Bishop a little. His arm is very strong, although he occasionally gets a little erratic with his accuracy. He also runs extremely well. He's fast in a straight sprint, but more importantly, he's extremely elusive, frequently escaping traffic when the pocket collapses around him. He's able to switch gears in a heartbeat, accelerating from a standstill to a flat-out sprint in no time, and he changes directions very well, in part because he has good "lean" that makes defenders think he's headed one way, only to watch him go another. If he ends up at SMU, he'll need a year or two to iron out a couple of wrinkles in his throwing mechanics, but he can play the position very well and would allow the coaches to add an option element to the offense, because he's a smart kid who makes good decisions with the ball and has fairly large hands, which help eliminate mistakes when running with the ball.
