Too bad we won't be getting him until next season when this job will look a lot worse after back to back losing seasons.

Yeah and the one time we can actually buy a recruit, we don't have the money for it.

And the seats at Ford will be totally empty. I hope this admin enjoys the embarrassment of an empty stadium since they don't have the cajones to make a change now.

Im worried that with this kind of administration (in bed with faculty) they would just shutdown the program. Of course they wont unless the Big East collapses.

You do realize, don't you, that a university is an academic institution, and SMU is a damn good one ... so "being in bed with" the faculty should not be viewed as a negative. That said, the faculty is not running athletics, nor should it. The idea that the program would be "shut down" is ridiculous. I would bet we'll see upgrades (IPF, stadium upgrades, etc. ... something like that) before too long.

I think the administration should be independent from all sources and not in bed with anyone. It has a fiduciary duty to those who donate money to allocate appropriate funds to the right people. The fact so many of the faculty that have received tenure when they shouldn't have is a reason why I'm against that crap. Our business school and law school are slipping because they reward te wrong people. I've had heard plenty at least in the law school how lousy and lazy some of the professors are in that group. This goes double for some in the business school. I've been noted plenty on the board of my harsh criticism of the faculty and for good reason. We might have good academics now but it's slipping. There has been way too much of political favoritism in the classrooms that get in the way of seeking true knowledge and giving students the student an ability to learn. Ill stop the rant here but he takeaway is there needs to be an independent self thinking group (Admin). To the point of not shutting down the program, there have been articles of the faculty wanting to shut down the football program and using ford stadium space for more "practical" uses.

Could you provide a quote to a credible article talking about this, and preferably not one that is an opinion piece from a spanish professor with no power?

Lol, yeah Ill go looking for it. Haha, I want to read the spanish professor one.

I also want to add, even if there is a lack of articles doesnt mean it isnt true. I know even some of b-school professors I had were pissed that the football program was paying someone more than them by like 8x and the program is running a deficit. So I know the hate is there, probably will require me to get some inquiries from people.

So you got a C for citing Sarah Palin as a legitimate source. Let it go.

I'm sure you can find similar opinions voiced by professors at UT and other places where their football program is doing just fine.
