Can someone give a complete bio on this great new addition to SMU, including schools that offered him last year as well as his Rival’s star-rating.

I'm not sure Bobby Chase was rated-he was a late qualifier even after the end of the spring signing period I've heard. But he was productive 49 catches for 811 yards. He's listed from 6-3 to 6-4. All-District. He made the Texas Football Top 300 as a WR listed as 6-4, 205, 4.6. Reportedly has great hands. He was Irving's go-to receiver both as a junior and senior. As a Junior he had 28 receptions for 314 yards. Sounds a lot like a bigger version of John Hampton coming out of high school.

Bobby Chase just graduated from Irving High and will attend Blinn JC while Vincent will be a senior next year. Since Bobby is a full qualifier he is eligible to transfer to SMU after one year. Both should be eligible for the 2004 season.

Will Bobby lose a year of eligibility for going JUCO for a year? Or does he get to play four years with his brother? Could his JUCO year count as a redshirt year and then leave him with four seasons at SMU?

the year in juco will take away one of his years at SMU, but let me say, Bobby Chase has the best hands I've ever seen.

I can add a little bit...

When we conducted the interviews for the '03 Recruiting Roundup, we asked the head coach from MacArthur (Lucky Delay's coach) who else the Mustangs should be looking at from the district. He said the most dangerous player in the district was the WR from Irving (Bobby Chase). Further, he said that the elder Chase was probably the most talented football player to come out of that district in several years.

He has prototype size for a possesion receiver, good speed, and amazing hands. He's the kind of player where you have to do a double take because you can't believe your eyes when he makes some circus catches. He will outsize and outmuscle almost every DB in the league (when was the last time we could say that?).

Think John Hampton with speed.

He's not as thick as Hampton, but I like the comparison!
Put him across from Jay Taylor, and the DBs will have a hard time matching up.

Amen Troup32. Talk about matchup problems...

How about several years down the road when you have Bartel/Phillips/Meeks tossing the ball to the Chase brothers... and Donald Massey.

Now that's a nightmare scenario for Defensive Coordinators.

We're going to try to put that together ASAP. Should have it soon.
