SMU Men's Soccer Fall Recruiting Class Ranked Fourth by Soccer America
Ramon Nunez Named Publication's Top Men's Recruit in the Country
June 4, 2003
DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU men's soccer incoming class for this fall was ranked the nation's fourth best by Soccer America in the national soccer magazine's June 9th edition. In addition, SMU incoming freshman Ramon Nunez (Dallas, Texas) was selected by the publication as the nation's top men's recruit.
The top 10 incoming classes deemed by Soccer America are as follows: 1 - UCLA; 2 - North Carolina; 3 - Saint Louis; 4 - SMU; 5 - Notre Dame; 6 - Penn State; 7 - Indiana; 8 - Clemson; 9 - Stanford; and 10 - Virginia.
In its evaluation of the top 10 recruiting classes, Soccer America states the following about Ramon Nunez and SMU's fall recruiting class:
"Ramon Nunez is generously listed at 5-foot-8, but he rises to the top of this fall's incoming freshmen when it comes to potential impact. Nunez can both set the tone for his team and go to goal himself. In addition, the Mustangs add forward Kenny Cooper from Dallas and defender Mynor Gonzalez, a Guatemalan with over 50 youth national team games under his belt. Forward Dario Saintus and defender Ryan Spencer prove how deep this class is."
