Ennis defensive tackle Tommy Daniels (6-3, 323, 4.9) lists SMU, TCU, Nebraska, Colorado and Oklahoma as his five favorites. Yet he only has offers from Baylor and Toledo. I've seen him listed as a 3-star recruit, he's huge and he's quick for his size - very quick for his size. How can we NOT offer him?

I'm still learning about the SMU team (I've been watching C.D. Moss in high school, so now I'm suddenly a Pony Fan), But I have to believe a player like this should be at the top of players the coaches want. No team can have enough big defensive tackles.

Anyone that big and quick is worth a shot. Why does he have so few offers? Any idea if he and Tate Wallis are friends?

Heck Yes, I like this guy. If he is as good on the field as on paper, I'll take four thank you.
Go Coaches.
This may take a few years but SMU is going to KICK some BUTT.
Go Mustangs

I saw a note where Daniels lists SMU as his #1 school. He's taken an unofficial visit to SMU and two other schools. He runs a 4.9 at 323 pounds .... and still doesn't have an offer? I realize production matters, but shouldn't that size and quickness merit a scholarship on their own? With those numbers, I have every confidence our coaches can teach him to be productive .... although since he's listed as a 3-star prospect, he must be fairly productive already, right?

Hey, try and post some links to any info you find! Thanks!

This guy sounds like a real hoss!
The July 4 edition of the lonestar 100 has him as the #26 prospect, although it seems the list has been updated with committments (Jessie Henderson is listed as comitted to us). Now where is Vincent Chase and Jonathan Lindley!?

By the way, Rivals has him listed as 6-6 323, and running a 4.91 in the 40.

Don't forget that he has to be able to be admitted...he may have low GPA or something...I am not condemning him at all.
Also, we may be set at his position for a while and Bennett may not want to expend another scholarship at his position this year with only about 17-18 to give.
Who knows...

Could be academics. Definitely not because we have enough DT's! Quality D-linemen are our biggest deficiencies!

Right - we're definitely not set at DT. Adami will graduate soon, Bean's back unfortunately makes him a question mark, and you never know how freshmen will pan out, no matter how good they look in practice. Besides, let Adami get hurt and see how "set" we are. One constant with this team in recent years is that we're often smaller than our opponent. We need a bunch of big guys like this. If he can't work his way into the rotation at DT, shove him over to the offensive line. If he's that big and quick, he'll play. Somewhere.

The more I read, the more I think we've got to find a way to get this guy.

Sounds like a guy you could build a defensive line around.

I read a magazine in the airport (sorry - don't remember which mag) that said he might be the best DT in Texas. Maybe that was written by someone from his hometown, but in order to get published, he has to be pretty good, if not the best. What's his interest level in SMU now?
