Kickers Win and Lose games!
Posted: Sat Nov 24, 2012 10:29 pmAnyone else notice that Tulsa passed on 3 FG's today due to their kicker struggling this year and today as well!
If they kick those FG's, they win the game! Don't get me wrong, great for SMU today......
Funny thing is while I am typing, Notre Dame kicker pulls a 37 ydr to take Norte Dame up by two scores(he did hit a 52 ydr before half). May come back to haunt them and cost them a run at National Championship!
Coaches want to go after big linemen, talented safeties, and use the decommit scholarships for extras in those positions and miss out on great kickers/punters going to other schools on scholarship. Also, not many kickers flunk out or get kicked off team for violating team rules. Seems like a better investment. Don't get me wrong, SMU needs Big linemen and safeties, but how many at each position actually end up contributing over four years?
Look at this video link and hopefully, Coach Jones will see it and this post as well will make its way to him and SMU finds a solid kicker/punter to help when needed or in a few years.
