Dallas (Hillcrest) linebacker Earl Thompson (6'1", 207, 4.5) lists SMU, along with Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. I've seen him in person, and he's a terrific player - sometimes taking over games. However, I wonder if he will grow enough to be a college LB. If that 4.5 is legit, maybe he's a safety who's playing LB for now?

Does anyone know how highly regarded he is?

The kid, rahter man, is a stud. He's got room to grow, but doesn't need much. 4.5 is legit as he also ran track for Hillcrest. Would be a huge pickup for SMU, but grades are a big struggle, as in he doesn't have them. K-State is highest on his list, according to his mother.
