To Chris Hall:
PonyFan "thegatekeeper" said you've already been offered a scholarship for next year, and that you've accepted. Is that true? Is recruiting over for you?
Sure hope so - the scouting reports on you are impressive!

Yep, SMU offered me and I figured I might as well committ since that's where I want to go. Coach Bennett also offered Marcus Shavers, a D-Lineman from Allen who will also be a junior next year. He's the best Defensive end I've ever faced. Also one of the best athletes I've ever faced. Standing at 6'5 235, he is a true 4.8

Excellent! If it's straight from the player, I'd say that's official - broken here, on PonyFans.com - the first SMU commitment for February of 2005!
Any word on whether Shavers will accept? That would be for February of 2006, right?
With recruiting like this, Coach Bennett can't help but turn this program into a winner. Way to go, Coach!

Congratulations wardog. Glad to have you aboard

Also, is the Shavers kid mentioned in the previous post committed to us or is it just that he has an offer to SMU on the table? Thanks
Kurt

Welcome aboard, wardog!
Stay healthy this year, and keep working hard. Looking forward to seeing you at SMU in a year.

Shavers and Chris Hall are both HS JRs. If they commit, they will sign in FEB 05.

marcus didn't committ, but he does have an offer on the table, and I would be there in two years, not next year.

We can't wait to get you and your class on campus. Bring all the big, tough, fast friends you can with you. The Ponies are rebuilding fast and your class will be one of the first to challenge all of the big boys. Congrats and welcome.

Here's hoping wardog has a brilliant 11th and 12th grade season. That way, we can say our first commitment chose SMU over offers from some of the really big programs!
