Lamar's defense was outstanding-article references back-to-back sacks by Zelt Minor http://www.chron.com/sports/highschool/ ... 102248.phpAt one time these highlites of Minor on Rivals were free-content. I think it still is. One of the best things about his highlites is that its so long with about 30 outstanding defensive plays-and the highlites are about 2 months old-he's been named Player of the Week after at least 2 more games since these highlites so he's a pretty outstanding, consistent player who makes a ton of plays http://smu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1426945

I wonder if Minor will be one of those freshmen who not only plays but also makes a bit of an impact as a true freshman.

Jason Phillips in the house at Houston Touchdown Club attended by all the top high school coaches and many top recruits in Greater Houston. Its the little things like that have to be done staff-wide. Plenty of Coaches from other schools looking to poach Minor. Sam Zhan at the Chronicle lists Minor as one of 3 favorites

I agree. I think it's either Hollins, Zelt Minor or Matt Dimon for Def. POY. MT @EricNahlin Deon Hollins, imo.

Championship. Houston Lamar becomes the first HISD team since Vince Young (who lost) to make it to 5A Final with 15-7 win over SA O'Connor. An HISD team hasn't won 5A crown since the mid 1980s-I think that was that incredible Houston Yates team. I just listened to end but Zelt Minor had a key sack on final possession and then caught a slip screen on 4th and 2 to seal the victory. I know he at least caused a safety, swatted a pass down and had a tackle for loss. Lamar defense dominated causing a go-a-head Safety credited to Minor on grounding call in the endzone and holding opposing QB to 6 for 34 passing. I know O'Connor only had 4 First Downs at half. They have surrendered only 8 ppg on the year. So next weekend we should be able to get a peek of Minor and Lancaster in 5A Championship on FoxSW at JerryWorld. As mentioned in another thread Trey Washington and Gilmer play at JerryWorld on Friday for 3A crown

Minor was named Defensive Player of The Game according to a Houston media tweet. I think that's at least the 3rd time in playoffs. We better get ready to hold on once the media hype begins

Oh my! Did Jason Phillips steal a great prospect in Minor. Check out highlites from yesterday including a go-ahead Safety caused by Minor-a sack, a 25 yard Tackle for Loss, an 8 yard Tackle for Loss and a catch on 4th Down on 4th and 2 that sealed game. He actually was credited with 5 Tackles for Loss. I think he's physically ready to play next year. Look for big No. 92. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYlLlbjG-uI
