"After not reaching the necessary SAT score, Pittsburg (TX) offensive lineman Brian Taylor will spend a year and a half at a local JUCO. "

Does anyone know what the "minimum" SAT score you need to get to accept a D1 scholarship?

I believe it is on a sliding scale that is based off your GPA.

So then this will free up a scholarship for last minute recruiting, right?

Yes - there are a few spots open, I think.
With the rule change this year that prevents teams from oversigning, I'd guess that there will be some very talented players who don't end up where they think they're going. If they're not blown away by a new candidate, it might not be a bad idea to hold a couple of spots to see who is left without a place to play.

Isn't A&M over-booked? It wouldn't hurt to follow their bread crumbs

Sounds like a good plan. You'd have to think Aggie High's list of recruits is as impressive as just about anyone this side of Alabama, isn't it?

Its inflated with about 33 commits-adjust for numbers and its about 13th (below UT) which qualifies as 6th in SEC. UCLA has a significantly better class too. They picked a good year for a big class because UT can only sign a small class

Both services only count the top 20 recruits in towards a school's score for ranking, so the extra 13 do not increase the ranking. You might be focusing on average stars, which is obviously also a valid metric, but there is value in quantity too so I do not think you can only look at average stars.

I'm pretty sure they changed their scoring system in some respects with the harder 25 scholarship limit. They reported they simplified it in some manner. I'm not sure how-does your system still work. Anyway it doesn't change the FACT that when you average out recruits- hit Avg. link they are 13th. Rivals allows you to take at least 2 different looks at a Class-total points and average. If they take 33 with 8-9 extra this year at a lower quality than an opponent over 2 years you still have the 50 or so recruits in the program in 2 years with UT higher in quality.

The only problem with Aggie toaster leavings is that they wanted to be Aggies in the first place.
