Double Signers

Just to close the loop on some of the kids with academic issues. That Brandon Hines kid from Kimball that SMU seemed to ignore late in the season ended up double signing with not only NMSU but also a JUCO. So now we know the rest of the story on Hines-its usually academics. I know a lot of people wanted to know why the hell we didn't allow him to commit when he said he intended to. Also, Quincey Aldridge has transferred from TCU to a JUCO for some reason-but it might not be academics. Related to SMU's Aldridge. Finally, they say 3 kids "signed" with SMU which we know is really inaccurate-they were committed but not allowed to sign.

Brian Perrini (24/7) posted this last week:

While I was at it-I checked up on Dontae Livingston too-he wasn't able to transfer directly to another Division 1A school but is listed on Roster at El Camino JC in California. Hasn't signed with anyone this year (his 2nd year) yet but may have redshirted or redesignated as a Freshman which is how he is listed on their roster.

So when these guys sign with JC's that in effect resets the recruiting process, does it not? There's not any "stashing" going on is there?

its a jump ball once they enroll at a JUCO-we've signed double digit recruits that ended up as non-qualifiers in JUCOs and none have ever signed with SMU out of JUCO. Of course, some of the Juco signees could retake the SAT/ACT, improve their core GPA in the spring semester or achive a required core grade in one of 16 required core courses and become a late qualifier before August 1 and then play Division 1A later this year

Does this mean we did something correct in recruiting or just screwed the pooch?

So we actually did something right? JJ and his staff did something right in recruiting?

let's not go that far. we can all just agree that JJ didn't do any harm here.

(i would say yes, but i don't want to bring out those who refuse to say anything positive about JJ)
