Great to see both these kids commit to SMU. And I love the Houston Lamar thing our staff seems to having going.

I've seen a post or two on here recently about signs of a renewed commitment to recruiting (earlier jr days, etc.). I'm no recruiting expert, but it does seem like we're off to a good start for 2014. What do others think?

Lamar ought to be a very interesting track team to watch this spring. Darrel Colbert actually won the District Triple Jump as a FRESHMAN, Shelby Walker won the 400 Meters and 400 Relay as a SOPHOMORE, Braylon Hyder came in 3rd in the Discus as a SOPHOMORE. Lancaster has been scoring points in the sprints and relays as a Junior. Shelby Walker is already running in high 22.82 at a January 200 Meters race last month as a Junior -that's very early and usually those numbers drop significantly later in the Spring as the training and weather improve. I would think he could get into the 21s at least as a Junior

Sounds like Coach Phillips is making an impact in Houston for us. Great to see!

Walker's on the small side 6'0" 165, but 4.4 speed I likee. Can't teach speed. Colbert is an interesting commitment. Sounds like JJ is thinking of reading Art Briles playbook.

They're listing Walker as a 3-star now on Rivals' list of top WRs.
