Kenton ThorntonThe Dallas St. Mark's WR is still waiting for an offer from Texas, where his brothers play. (They have 4 or 5 WRs committed already, but they can't find room for a 6-5 WR who can run and jump like this kid? Mack Brown might regret it if he gets away, in my opinion.)
However, his list of options continues to grow. He now has offers from Oklahoma, Miami and Michigan, in addition to the zillions of offers he's gotten elsewhere. HOORAY, BEER!
Re: Kenton ThorntonHas SMU even tried to get in on this guy?
Re: Kenton ThorntonI gather he's been eyeing the big boys from Day One. Especially UT, where his brothers are playing. I don't know if SMU has ever been on his radar screen.

Re: Kenton ThorntonThere's more than being 6'5 and jumping high...Texas has commits from the fastest and most gifted WR's in the country, why the hell would they need this guy??
Re: Kenton ThorntonBecause he's a sensational talent who happens to also have the benefit of being a really big target. He's big, he's fast, he has great hands and he runs good routes. When his team plays, everybody knows he's Option 1 for the offense, and there's still nobody who can prevent him from getting the ball. He's not getting offers from OU and Miami and Michigan by being "just another guy." I've seen him, and he's a stud. More importantly, I've talked to coaches who know more than we do about football, and they say the same thing. This guy's going to be great in college. Remember, when his brother Kalen signed with UT, he was mocked by some folks who said there were taller and faster DEs out there. Then he became a freshman All-America at UT, and by his sophomore year was called the Longhorns' best defensive player - a quote that came from UT's defensive coordinator. Players like Cory Redding and Quentin Jammer and Derrick Johnson might get the headlines, but Kalen is a great DE. His brother Kyle will be a really good OL for them, and Kenton will be a stud - at UT or somewhere else.
Re: Kenton ThorntonI think he'd be great - but I don't think he is going to UT - he clearly wants to go there, and they have not offered, which means they are holding back for a reason. He better start expanding his options.
Re: Kenton Thorntonignore this Hahaha chump. He is the definition of a troll.
Re: Kenton ThorntonHe has offers from Oklahoma, Miami and Michigan. HMMM.. I'm sure Texas is just *too good* for him then.
Re: Kenton ThorntonI know one high school coach who said that baby brother is the most talented of the Thornton boys. My completely uninformed assumption is that UT thinks Kenton is automatic since both his brothers went to UT.
Since the Thornton family doesn't have any problems paying tuition at St. Marks, they could probably pay for a UT education out of the change they find in their couch. That being the case, McBrown might be gambling that Kenton will come to UT as an invited walk-on, thereby saving a scholarship for someone else. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. Re: Kenton ThorntonI once found a whole $4.53 in my couch.
Re: Kenton ThorntonNo problem. I'll spot you a buck, and you can transer to UT.

Re: Kenton ThorntonOh shoot! You're out of state. That means I'll need to lend you $2.
What the heck, just write it off as a student loan. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Kenton Thorntonha. it should be that easy.
Re: Kenton ThorntonWill have to watch Kenton this year to see if he is really worth all the hype. I have watched him the past two seasons and was not very impressed. He should have dominated those games. Come on, he is playing private school ball. The DBs he goes against are 5'9 white boys. He should put up unbelieveable numbers. I don't know him personally, so I can't say what his attitude is like, but I'm sure he has thought pretty highly of himself since his brother went to Texas. He has figured he is automatic, which is probably somewhat true, but he struts like he is deserved. The guy is kind of goofy actually. His feet are huge! I can't see him playing WR in college. Not enough quicks. Maybe TE or DE. I don't think his brothers any good really either. They play lazily. Texas is a perfect place for them. In my eyes Texas tends to get all these blue chippers who think of themselves as blue chippers who end up playing way below their means. Go to a UT game. They look lazy. Watch them on TV. They look lazy. Not saying SMU is any better really, but UT won't win the title ever under Brown. He doesn't get his players to go all out, all game, every game.
