One that got away .... twice?

Former Dallas (Hillcrest) QB Ryan Gilbert went to LSU two years ago with the intention of becoming a running back (he's one of the fastest players I've ever seen). Nick Saban wanted to move him to safety, and after a little soul searching, he realized he didn't want to play defense. So he's transferring .... to Houston. Seems to think he'll get a shot at RB there (after sitting out a year.) His former Hillcrest teammate, T.J. Jenkins, isn't on the Houston roster any more, but UH coach Art Briles tried to recruit Gilbert to Tech a couple of years ago.
Sorry to see the Ponies miss out on him again. His speed is unbelievable.

And word is that former Hillcrest WR/DB Lakeldrick Bridges isn't returning after his first year at Georgia Tech. He might be as fast as Gilbert. No word where he's headed. (I do know that he wanted to play hoops as well as football, and maybe even run track, too. Think Coach Bennett and Coach Dement and Coach Wollman would be willing to work together on this?)

If Coach Bennett loves speed as much as he says he does, he should be on the phone now to Bridges (assuming that's legal) and to Gilbert, if he hasn't already signed anything with UH. Those two move faster than Mack Brown trying to dodge a "why can't you win a big game?" question.

According to StangEsq's post on the basketball message board, a player has to send his release to a school before they can contact him. So if Bridges hasn't contacted us, I guess we can't contact him.
