per a source, Schnider Herard and Djery Baptiste are on the SMU campus for an unofficial visit
All these guys they have been bringing in are not under the radar recruits. Doh did nothing like this.

Neither of them have a professional and collegiate championship and a spot in the hall of fame. The only reason these kids are coming is for LB and rightfully so. It's a once in eternity opportunity.

I think you also have to give LB's staff credit. They are on it. If LB did not have this assertive staff I don't think you would see this much activity with high level recruits. LB has put together a dynamic staff and it is really showing.

I completely agree, BUT why is that staff here? Yup, they're here to learn and coach with Larry Brown.
Larry Brown is the one the makes the wheels on the bus go round and round

I hear what you are saying but if Coach Brown had surrounded himself with a bunch if 60 year guys that did not have a track record of good recruiting we probably would not be seeing these results.

June could have that same kind of success if he surrounded himself with the right people. Klemm was killing it for us his last year here so it can happen.

You think simply surrounding June with recruiters would give us access to the top 1% of college football recruits? No. LB has it much easier. He's better known than JJ, a virtual god of the bball universe. Conference affiliation is not nearly as important in bball as fball -- and the AAC is a better basketball than football conference anyway. While I love Ford, it's small. Moody, along with Crum, will be a facility to rival anyone's anywhere. Simply adding the equivalent of Maligi and Turner on the football side would NOT be enough to get us to this level of recruiting.
The point does remain however that we've got to significantly upgrade our recruiting in fball. If it were me, I'd make 8-4 the standard for JJ to stay.

JJ surrounding himself with good recruiters would make it better than it is. After next year the AAC looks like CUSA 2.0 in every sport. I tend to agree that 8-4 is a good goal for now.

You can't compare bball recruiting to football recruiting. We will never have official visits in football from the caliber of players who have come in for bball in the past couple weeks.
But having said that, LB and staff's dedication and hard work, constantly on the recruiting trail, really highlights the apparent lack of effort put in by this football staff. There is no excuse for this "let them come to us" approach.

"...the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
I'm not saying we could have the #1 recruiting class in football, as we are a long way from it in basketball. However, if we hired the right people we could definitely attract multiple 4star and 5 star players, especially in the skill positions.

as far as I'm aware, TCU hasn't signed a single 5 star, and they are essentially setting the bar for what we could (in theory) turn into under absolutely perfect circumstances in a best case scenario. Now explain to me how we would suddenly be pulling in multiple 5 stars? Is it technically possible under some bizarre circumstance? ...I guess. And my dog might discover a cure for cancer this weekend.
The hoops staff has had roughly half a dozen of the top 100 players in the COUNTRY on campus recently. That is absolutely insane. I'd be happy if we could get half a dozen of the top 100 players in the metroplex on campus for football at this point.
