Ennis

As a big fan of Texas high school football and basketball I was trying to recal if there has ever been an offense that puts up numbers like this years Ennis squad. Every week it seems like they score 60+ and hold the opponent under 10. I think they won 69-7 tonight against Red Oak.

yeah I was thinking that tonite-that Ennis is having the most dominating season in Texas High School Football History that I can recall. Simply outstanding every single week. Of course, Graham Harrell and their receiver Jenkins have committed to Texas Tech who also got a commitment from the number one JC QB in America. I not sure if Mike Leach will stay at Tech but if he does I feel he is about to move that program into the upper level of competition. Also, reports are on this board that WR Jarvis Woodson who has had the best year of all among Ennis WRs is considering SMU-but apparently SMU for some reason hasn't really attempted to tie Woodson down.

I think Harrell and Jenkins are going to make a lot of people in Lubbock happy. They both seem to be the real deal.

yeah but I keep looking at Jarvis Woodson who had another big game 8 receptions for 133 yards and 5 TDs-about average for him.

In other words, Jarvis Woodson and that big DT (Tommy Daniels) need to end up at SMU!

As A long time follower of Ennis Lion Football, I wanted to tell you Stallion, that you are correct about Woodson. With all of the talent they have, Jarvis Woodson stands out every week. The only problem with him that I can see is his size. At 5'7 and 170 pounds, that might stop him from being heavily recruited. I think that would be a mistake. Someone is going to get a great player.

Any chance that they would change their commitment, or Bennett would work the angle that if Leach leaves (Zona is available) please consider SMU...of course, if Leach went to Zona, he'd grab Texas recruits...

This Jarvis Woodson sounds like Blake Warren. He's small, but he can play. Are Woodson and Tommy Daniels close friends? Maybe you grab Woodson in an effort to land a package deal?

I don't know id Woodson and Daniels are real good friends or not. However, I think the way to get any recruit from Ennis, is through the Coach. Those players love and trust Coach Harrell. If Bennet has a good relationship with Harrell, then they would be more likely to come to SMU. Leach has established that type of relationship with Harrell already and Tech has received commitments from the top two Ennis recruits.

I think the coach (Harrell) either played for SMU or has coached for us before - can anyone refresh my memory on that?

There was a Jeffrey Harrell who played for the Ponies in 1982-83, but I don't know if it is the same guy.

BTW, Ennis is now ranked in the top 20 nationally. Not bad for a 4A school.
If they meet Texas High in the playoffs I would recommend to anyone to catch that game. Texas High is the defending 4A champs and they returned 17 of 22 starters. Ennis and Texas High are probably the two best teams in Texas, regardless of classification.
