Bangs (Texas) RB Jacoby Jones - long thought to be an SMU recruiting target - committed to Baylor, according to Rivals.

Well, as I see it we have plenty of RB'c right now.

BIG MEN dag nabit. BIG MEN
Take them all, 10 to 12 BIG MEN.
I have been saying this for YEARS.

BIG MEN
Stock up now and SAVE some with red shirts but get them on campus.

OR - how about three JUCO BIG MEN and 8 high schoolers!!!!

We certainly need more linemen on both sides of the ball - no team can have enough good linemen. But more than that, I'd like to see the linemen somehow get taught a nasty attitude - like it's a personal attack on them if someone tries to tackle their teammate or prevent them from doing the same (depending on OL vs. DL, of course.)

This weekend is a perfect chance for the offensive line to be the stars of the game. Tulsa's defensive front is small, averaging 254 across the defensive line, and they only use three down linemen. Our offensive linemen need to come out and play like it's just the five of them against the entire Tulsa defense. Come out frothing at the mouth, and just physically maul the guys in front of them. Pick those guys up and shove them straight back 5-10 yards on every play, and then shove them some more. If you can plant one of them in the ground, do it and then look for someone else to hit.

O-Line, this is the game where you can make up for seven games of frustration, but Tulsa is a much-improved team. They're not going to lay down. But you guys are bigger and stronger than they are. Get nasty and brutal, and the Ponies are in the win column.

Especially with a freshman QB, that's the way I see it. The offensive line can win this game for us. Sterling Harris, Steve Reindl: you guys are seniors. Show the young guys the way here. Go out there Saturday and start brawling on every play. You'll make Phillips and Kincade look like stars, but we'll know where it all starts.

Sorry for going off on that little tirade. It belongs on the football board - I'll cut and paste...

I heard from a close friend last night, who hails from Bangs, that Jacoby Jones commitment to Baylor may not be as solid as some think. SMU may still be on his list. Another friend says that the first recruiting weekend in January is supposed to be a VERY big one for us.

I don't know. Our model is broken, so I wouldn't put too much faith in it.

Oh, wait, I'm not scrooge.

Perhaps good things will come from this big weekend you speak of.

I don't think he is or was anywhere on our radar screen and we already have three commitments at running back that are MUCH better.

Take it from me....he was nowhere on our radar...which does not mean anything other than that. Personally, I feel he could not break our scout team lineup of Munlin, Massey and Dorsey (if we went to a wishbone offense)
