DARRELL COLBERT: Passing interest

Darrell Colbert has a lot of the attributes college coaches covet in quarterbacks: he's athletic, he produces touchdowns — lots of them — and more than anything, he wins, guiding the Redskins to the state championship game last year. But because he lacks prototypical height, some colleges chose not to recruit him. Colbert visited with PonyFans.com how SMU's faith in him, specifically as a quarterback, factored into his decision to commit to SMU.

Yet another case of people getting too hung up on size or speed and forgetting to notice when a guy is just a productive player. I can't wait to see Colbert at SMU.

Most important thing is that he won the Golden Gun Award for passing accuracy.

Right on. I'd rather have a 5-11 guy with accuracy and speed over a really huge guy whose only measurable attribute is arm strength.

Being 5'11 didn't seem to bother Russell Wilson too much.

I hope Colbert isn't discouraged by our two other QB signings and looking elsewhere...I think he's the best QB in this class

Doesn't seem to bother Case Keenum either.

P.S. Sorry about the late response. Just checking out other forums I don't see all that often.
