Why did we not have any recruits sign with us on signing day? Will Dement have to go outside the state to get recruits again? Will someone with more knowledge on the subject let myself along with others on this board that would like answers. Thank you.

sometimes the SID waits until the last expected recruit signs. I got us with 3 commitments: SG Derrick Roberts 6-4, 190; G Jon Killen 6-4 and PF Paulis Ritter 6-7, 255. Roberts had offers from TCU and Colorado St. Ritter had an offer from Virgina Tech. Killen committed pretty early but had offers from Louisiana Tech, UTEP and NTSU. It looks like Roberts is a quality recruit a 3 star but just from the recruiting services it looks like one of Dement's weaker efforts in recruiting. I guess you never know about the Lithuianians

Thanks Stallion. It appears that Dement has had trouble recruiting the top players in the state since Tubbs left.

One from Arlington, one from Houston and one from Lithuania. Not a bad mix. I like the sound of the kid from Lithuania. 6'7" and 255. Sounds like a hoss. No superstuds, but good servicable players.

Killen sounds pretty average on paper, but one good sign is the offer from Utep. Utep has a great recruiting class going, Billy Gillespie has deep contacts in the Southwest and can recruit. As for Roberts, he is the class of the class. I'm not sure if his offer from TCU held up though. My understanding is that they held out for some other guys and ran out of schollies. Ritter is a mystery, but we've been saying SMU needed to recruit the Euros for years, so I like the strategy.

oh one intriqing comment by Ritter's HS coach who claims that Ritter has run a 4.6 forty!!!!-are you kiddin' me at 6-7, 255-I don't believe it for a second but if true he looks a lot more interesting although he may have to fight off Phil Bennett who could use a TE with those stats.

Or a linebacker. Heck, if Charlie Ward could do football/basketball at FSU, why not?
