Great recruiting in Basketball

Since our basketball team has been recruiting very well how long will it take to translate into great Football recruiting?

That is a legitimate question. The publicity should help for all sports not just basketball. Now SMU is the place to be since Mudiay is coming here. Even the announcers said that. No joking. This gives the entire school more national attention for higher level recruits. I believe the staff can capital on it.

Until we hire a football coach that has won a National Championship and a Super Bowl. Let's see...Who is out there? Thank god Turner didn't listen to Orsini!

Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer fit the bill.

Would be pretty cool if one came.

I don't know if you are being a sarcastic or what but the Mudiay commit does help everyone. You sound like a hard core June Jones supporter. Look if USF who is rebuilding with a new coach with no supers bowls or national championships can get 12 of 15 recruits with 47 BCS total offers so should we (right now we have 3 of 15 recruits with 6 BCS total offers). The Mudiay pub should help. That lets everyone know big time recruits do come to SMU. LB's staff had a lot to do with this also as Coach Ulric had known Mudiay for a while. If June gets the right staff he can do the same thing as USF imo.

No, I think Jones should retire after 2014. He's done his job by getting us into a much better situation, but there is more to do. Then we must hire a coach that can attract top recruits, our top priority! One with Larry Brown's credentials is hard to find was my point. But maybe there's one out there we can get that is close. NOW IS OUR TIME, SO HOP ON IT!

June should retire after this year. I'm not one of the people who hates his guts. i think he is a pretty good coach but I just think he is very apathetic at this point and would rather be doing something else. Bring someone in with some passion and let June go do whatever he wants to do.

I was of the same opinion re June Jones, before the hiring of Hal M. I think June is safe in his job, and the Mustangs may surprise quite a few this season. June has placed a number of athletes in the NFL, and is starting to recruit - finally. I think he got the message, even if he was slow on the uptake. After Fresno State, we don't have much ground to call for his departure. I was disappointed by the Tulane and Rice debacles, but this is a game played by kids...

In football I don't think you have to have a coach with LB credentials. Louisville, Cincy, and USF is not when they were looking. I think as you said if we get a good coach that can really recruit that would be good. NOW LET'S GO BEAT TECH. :D

Uh, really? Who exactly has he started to recruit that makes you feel like that?

Also, most bowl games are completely irrelevant IMO. I care about the regular season 100x more than a bowl game, particularly when it's against a mid tier team.

With a young aggressive staff with Tx ties - Junes style of recruiting is not Top 20 fball, save me the Hawaii nonsense. I appreciate all hes done. He wont get us to 9-10 wins in AAC

LB has an awesome staff. We'll see
If Hal helps fball.
