one of the highest rated players still on the board for SMU is DT James McClinton 6-1, 289 Garland Lakeview Centennial-3 star 5.7 rating according to Rivals. He just returned from a visit to Kansas who he favors. Other visits scheduled with Houston and Iowa and SMU (1/06). Offers from all plus Baylor and Arizona.

Stay home so your friends and family can watch you play. Look at the alternatives for after college in Dallas compared to Lawrence. If you don't make the pros, there is no comparison to having built a name in a progressive city compared to a small town.

Thsi guy would be starting for us in 05 in our first year of CUSA play - with his entire family watching every home game and most away games, just in time to see us start turning the corner -Meanwhile he will get a great education and make valuable business conections in the DFW market - which will last a life time and change his life positively forever. Plus he will date the best looking gals in the Southwest for 5 years (thats over 250 weekends - wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Any questions?

When he comes to visit, just take him to Burger House for a double-double. Or two. Or three. This will close the deal. Oh, wait, maybe that's a violation...

Desmond Jones and Brandon Bonds need to sell the big fellow on joining them and wreaking havoc on our soon to be CUSA opponents. And coach Bennett needs to remind his momma that we play in his backyard. Imagine that trio coming over for a home cooked meal?

Oh YES, Tha what I'm talking about.
With 5 Linemen red shirted over 300 pounds we could move Eric Neal to DT and have Adami at D-end.
Kick some butt time.

I love BUS's idea that we need to be big across the board, but I can't figure out why one of the most experienced returning OLs (Neal) should be moved to defense or why our most effective DT (Adami) should be knocked out to the end. Let's get some more DEs to fill those holes, and leave Adami and Neal where they are.

with you on neal - but Adami is an end size-wise - now that we have some beef in the middle lets get a manster on the end.

I have a STRANGE feeling that this recruiting class is going to even be better than last year's. Bennett is one HELL of a recruiter.. he just needs to get his new staff hired... SMU has a lot to offer..
One questions though.. did we install A-turf on the practice fields?

No, practice fields are still grass. Not sure what difference it makes, but the team held almost all their practices this year in the stadium, anyway.

That synthetic turf is so good it really doesn't matter, in terms of cushion and give (re: players' knees.)

thought I'd bring this thread back to the top of the board. McClinton has to be a top priority at this point to make this year's class even stronger than it's already looking with the Chase bros, Henderson, Lindley and now Martin. We need another monster in the middle to play alongside Desmond and Brandon by the time we hit CUSA.

BUS The Neal idea at DT just does not work. It is very rare and almost never works to put a OL man and the OL personality and make them a nasty DL. The best athletes are D-lineman ,big, feet, speed, mobility,,all the things Ol do not generally have. Adami would be a tough move. He will probably play his entire career at DT mainly because he is so good. We already have a big DE in Karrington, the most celebrated DL/DE we have on the roster. Now that depth is evolving at DT maybe putting players back to their natural positions is in order. DT rotation-Adami,Jones,Bonds,Berry;;;;DE rotation- Rogers,Karrington,Stansbury,Williams for now, others when they are ready..

Karrington was not a celebrated recruit-and had very few Division 1A offers.
