QB Chad Wilmott

I'm thinking that SMU may have backed off of Wilmott. There were slight indications in a report several weeks ago that SMU hadn't called in a week. Now a new report on Rivals says he is visiting UAB this weekend and also considering Illinois St and Troy St. No mention of SMU.

Of the 4 JC QB's we've heard of, that leaves Allgood from TVCC. Have you heard anything about him?

Dooby,
As reported by Stallion earlier in the week another juco qb visited last weekend -- Jared Romo of Antelope Valley California C.C.

Can someone catch me up? What do we know about these Allgood and Romo kids? Are they big guys? Fast guys? Accurate guys? Thanks

there is still another JC QB prospect that hasn't been named. Amazing how Bennett can recruit 6 JC QBs and not a single other JC player from the other 21 positions has the slightest interest. I guess SMU is trying to make a Bold Statement that we have a "1/22 Commitment to be the Best We can Be" Meanwhile TCU has a commitment from their 3rd JC recruit a top recruited DE to go along with 2 4 star JC DTs. Close observers of the TCU board are predicting at least 6 JC transfers this year-and let me tell ya some of these kids are hosses.

Well put Stallion. There is a reason SMU did not win a game last year. It did not happen by accident. There also is a reason TCU has gone to several bowl games and had an incredible season. SMU'S commitment and TCU'S commitment are like night and day. It would make a world of difference if SMU would take a few JUCO recruits a year. How many more losing and humiliating football seasons and how many more basketball seasons with no post season is it going to take for SMU'S administration to realize that they are ruining our athletic programs? Furthermore, will someone tell me what SMU'S average football attendance would have been without counting the OSU and TCU games?

Stallion, don't forget about Bobby Chase and there is another JUCO WR who is interested.

I realize they are baby steps, but SMU has two transfer Juniors coming in who are supposed to be good players, a JUCO WR, and a JUCO QB. How long has it been since SMU was even that active? ;)

SMU will never be a JUCO factory, but once again I will remind everyone that without the proper academic structure to get hours to transfer, it is extremely difficult for SMU to attract JUCO xfers. They are currently in the process of trying to establish a major to allow easier transfers. But the only way that is going to happen is if we "pony up" the money and donate to get the program started.

and, as I've posted in the past, when I get tangible news that such a program is being established, I'll pony up some money - as I'm sure many will. All it would take is a letter from Turner or Copeland stating it in no uncertain terms and I'll write the check.

I think Chris is supposed to be calling me in the next few weeks, and I will make sure to bring the JUCO situation up again and "encourage" him to make the establishment of such a program public knowledge.

And a JUCO QB will be here too

Am I not remembering correctly? I thought the last Mustang Club correspondence from Copeland had something in it about establishing a transfer-friendly major. It doesn't get any more black and white than that. Does anybody remember precisely?

So does this mean we're down to Allgood, Romo and the "mystery JUCO quarterback"?
