Huge CUSA commit

Dallas Carter DL Ryan Johnson (6-5, 260) has committed to Tulane over Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Arizona.

Lotus,

I agree with the theme of your post.

If a talented player isn't SMU bound then his selection of another CUSA school (especially a private school over the mega-state universities) is still positive news for SMU.

If the western division of CUSA (five private schools (TCU stays in CUSA) and Houston)) becomes reality then I anticipate that SMU will build an exciting long-term rivalry with Tulane.

it maybe good news but that one's a tough one to swallow. Great kid in our own backyard who obviously is interested in a going to a great private school in a big metropolitan area-but he chooses Tulane. Don't know it looks like a lost opportunity to me.

I agree with you. I didn't realize he had any interest in a small private school. I always assumed (without doing any research) that he was headed to a UT or an OU or a Florida State or something. How could Tulane walk in and steal this guy?

Surely the coaches (and Desmond Jones?) should have been all over this guy. (Maybe they could still get in there and change his mind?)
