Dallas Washington of Atlanta

Postby Stallion » Wed Jan 07, 2004 11:41 am

(wonder if he roots for the Cowboys or Redskins or maybe the Falcons?) Anyway, Rivals is making their first report on this kid. His name is all over the HS boards for his title run at Atlanta where his school easily beat Marlin for the 3A State Championship. Everybody who has seen this kid calls him a fabulous athlete. Don't know how that translates from 3A to Division 1A but its obvious that he is no getting some recognition. The scuttlebutt I had heard was that Arkansas was sure to offer and would get Washington but his coach says he is unsure Ark will offer. Washington plays all over the field-in high school he was a CB, TE, WR, RB, PR and KOR. Rivals projects him at safety and calls him "one of the fastest rising Safety prospects in the State" He is 6-0, 190 4.5 rated a 2 star and 5.3. I've heard raves about the two punts he returned in the state championship. He had 5 Punt returns for TDs on the year and had a 90 yard Punt Return and a 79 yard Punt Return for TDs in the Title game. Right now he is looking at Ark, SMU, TCU, Missouri, Purdue. He could be an answer at Safety. Second Team All-State in 3A. Two year member of Atlanta's State Champion Sprint Relay Team in 3A. He also has a Junior RB teammate named Curtis Burns who will likely be highly recruited next year.

From my standpoint, of course, he should be rooting for the Redskins (especially now that Joe Gibbs is coming back!) I'm obviously not familiar with many Texas players, but he sounds kind of appealing. All I remember about Atlanta's team when I lived down there (mid-'90s) was that they were fast. Whatever they did well or poorly, they did at very high speeds. If that size and speed are accurate, he sounds like a good candidate.

Atlanta is within the epicenter of the elder Bennett's recruiting ground of east Texas. With that he should go from being a Rabbit to a Mustang, correct?

They've got great big...huge...sharp, pointy teeth!
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The story I always heard about why Atlanta was the Rabbits was because way back in the day they had a coach who's last name was Rabb. When he retired, they honored him by naming the team the Rabbits. Who knows if it's true, but it's a cool story.

That is a pretty cool story, if it's true. I always assumed it was because of the wildlife in the area.

If he ends up at SMU, I would hope this guy turns out to be as good as the only guy I can think of who played (in the NFL) for Atlanta, Washington and Dallas: Deion Sanders. Better yet, I hope he turns out to be as good as Sanders thought he was (which is even better than reality.)

Rivals lists Arkansas as his favorite, followed by TCU, Purdue, Missouri, and SMU. He hasn't had any scholarship offers as of yet.

for clarification-Rivals lists his choices in exactly the order I placed them-if it makes any difference. Rivals does say Arkansas is the favorite but his coach is not sure they will offer. Rivals does not say "followed" in the order the Froggie suggests as if he is listing in order of preference. Right now Rivals lists Arkansas with 17 commits with 3 projected as DBs.

DW is the real deal. The two punt returns in the state championship game were as amazing as any i have seen. Also, along with being on that state championship football team and track team....he ran a sub 2:00 800 meters and ran cross country DURING football season. Mind you that would be after playing both ways on friday nights against the toughest schedule in class 3A.
