Rivals is listing a story called "CB Haynes has one last stop" and says the story appears on Hawgsports.com. Does that mean Haynes is still planning to visit Arkansas? I thought he was a solid commitment. Not true?

I hope this is just an inaccurate report from Rivals. I keep reading that Haynes is a real sleeper who could shine at the next level. He sounds like a guy we really need to keep.

he has said all along he was going to visit Arkansas and perhaps A&M. If he gets an offer from Arkansas he said he may reconsider-the problem is accoding to the report(I'm not sure) Lawrence Richardson their ace CB and another CB will turn pro-thereby maybe opening a spot. He does say he's pleased with his commitment to SMU and still thinks that's where he's likely headed. Hey we have several commits that several schools have not given up on-that's just part of improved recruiting. I doubt if Bennett will relax until several of these guys sign. All you can do is wait and see what happens and realize this is not all together a bad sign. I'm sure Bennett ain't given up on Massey and McClinton either.

BTW I did an analysis of Arkansas' recruiting situation to see if Haynes might get that offer. He may have to sit tight because they are really loaded with top DBs looking at them and at least 4 would appear to favor the Hogs including D'Nerian Wrighter and Matterial Richardsons(roomates who will likely go in a pair), Dallas Washington and a top JC named Randy Kelly. Another JC who TCU wants badly is Kyle Williams who has them rated highly, is originally from Pine Bluff Arkansas and has a sister that goes there. Also, the Dallas Washington kid we are recruiting had thought to be favoring Arkansas but hasn't got an offer either. They are chasing some other DBs too. Keep your fingers crossed.

I heard a spot was being set aside for Massey. I also heard that there maybe another scholarship available because someone didn't make their grades. Evidentally the person not making his grades rarely attended class!

According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette this morning, Arkansas is going after 3 highly regarded JC DB's. No mention was made of Haynes. Arkansas has lost its entire Defensive Backfield due to eligibiltiy and early departures. They need experienced help now (JC). I would be surprised if they have a scholarship available for a freshman, but could be wrong or just wishfully thinking.

Massey is no longer looking at Arkansas because they want him to play defense.

BTW I thought I'd mention that D'Nerian Wrighter and Red Richardson the roomates from Marlin say they have a "secret school" that nobody knows about that may have a good shot at their services. No indication of who that may be but they say they want to find a school where both could get on the field early-Wrighter at Safety and Richardson at CB. Unfortunately Richardson is not yet qualified on the SAT and won't retake the test until March.

Maybe we could sign Writer and hold a space for Richardson?

Update: Arkansas has got commitments from 2 JC DB in the last two days and is up to 21 commitments. They still need numbers at DB so I expect them to take some more-David Haynes is probably still down their list a bit though as they've got some dandies coming in this weekend.

Stallion,

Haynes is probably "down on Arkansas' list" because he is committed to SMU and they know how much he wants to play at SMU. They should not waste their time, and I suppose, move him further down the list.

that and the fact they have a horde of 4 and 3 star DBs coming in this weekend. Guys we wanted too like DeNerian Wrighter, Red Richarson and Dallas Washington to name only a few.

Unfortunately, the guy has basically come out and said if Arkansas offers him after this weekend, he'll go. They can offer just as much early playing time as we can.

that's my point-they have 4 DB commits already and about 5 more coming in this weekend from top recruits including Haynes. I'm hoping he doesn't get an offer. The others are ALL more high profile recruits.

I'm not disagreeing. Just disputing the "he wants to play for us badly so Arkansas should give up" argument. But they are considering him and have had quite a few solid DB's come through there so I feel good about his skills.
