Too soon to grade?

Not based on any studied knowledge, just a feel for where things are, if we sign who we think we will this year, if last year was a A- class (for SMU), this year feels like a B-. B- feels like a huge victory given the o-fer season hanging around our neck. Those in the know - is this assessment in the ballpark?

Also - here's betting we give out a few more scholarships then we thought we had to give - planned atrition.

I'm not going to put a grade on this class because it's impossible to tell but the fact that we're beating out bigtime schools for these kids (A&M, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Tech and LSU, K-State & Florida for V. Chase) is very impressive. We're definitely getting much more athletic and adding depth.

Hopefully, we can finish out this class strong with an OL commitment, and who knows, maybe even a surprise or two mixed in??

If last year's class was a A- minus, thus far, I'd give this class a very solid B. The addition of a good OL and Massey would raise it on par with last year (I'm not implying that will happen). I think every one of this year's class are SOLID athletes, and we haven't been able to say that for nearly two decades.

I liked our QB picks last year much better, but Munlin and Henderson are going to be huge for the running game. For some reason, I think the addition of Andrew McKinney will prove to be a bigger signing than most are giving it credit for (what's not to like about a big, fast FB who can catch – and a guy that nobody has proven to be able to tackle thus far). We also loaded up with athletic DBs, which was a real achilles heel for us last year and a necessary component for the kind of defense Coach Bennett likes to run.

There are a couple of names that are being kept very hush, hush. If we manage to land one of them this will be a stellar class... at least for us. I imagine they're all a long shot though, and I certainly wouldn't count on it. I heard that the HIGHLY recruited DT didn't pan out in case anyone was wondering.
