Maybe ... just maybe

Is there any reason to believe that the departures of Carl Reese and Hardee McCrary from the UT staff might cause any of the Texas commits to re-consider their college choices?

No - All of the good student-athletes will come to SMU and we will win the national championship next year. Get your bets down early before the odds change.

Wow -- anyone out there a bit cynical? I didn't see any mention of the UT commits coming to SMU, just a question raised about whether they might go somewhere other than Austin.

Mack rarely loses a commit, but with everything that has been going on and with the increasing criticism of his coaching ability you would think this would be the year. But, it doesn't look that way. Even Shipley now appears to be staying.

I'll give Mack that, once he gets a kid they are truly commited, at least until Mack tells them they ought to be moving on.

Why not virtually every kid in Texas seems to get a burnt orange or maroon football shaped rattle at birth? Not many red and blue rattles being handed out. That's a new marketing ploy Pony Pacifiers. Put a the ring through the horse's mouth. Make them hot pink for girls, navy blue for boys. The school sends them to every new born baby in the Metroplex. What do you think?

I think that's a banner idea. I have friends who are Mustangs from their undergraduate days, but went on to pursue graduate degrees at UT and A&M .... and when these people started reproducing, they littered their kids' cribs with Longhorn and Aggie junk! I've made it very clear to both couples that such behavior is unacceptable, and that they should never abandon their alma mater, but they seem to have turned to the dark side(s).

So every time I visit, I steal Aggie and Cow things out of the cribs and make sure that those things get "lost." And every birthday and Christmas for the kids (there are now 5 kids between the two families) brings a new load of SMU-related presents from Santa (or me, on birthdays). Two of the kids really love it just because there's a little horse on the SMU gear. Whatever the reason, we need to raise these kids as PonyFans! (Especially since one of the couples has a son who's 18 months old and already is wearing clothes designed for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds! Neither parent is very tall, but we can't let Mack Brown and Franocchio find out about this monster.)
