Question about Henderson...

It says he has a 4.25 40...is that accurate? I mean, I know the guy is fast, but at that speed, he could burn absolutely anyone. Xavier Carter, the five star recruit from the state of Florida, ran a 4.35 for scouts and I read where that was the "fatest on record for anyone out of high school." Also, Carter has a good, good shot at making the 2008 olympics. So is Henderson that fast????

Ran his 4.25/40 at Tech's game field during camp this summer. Ran a 4.31/40 at the Nike camp at Texas A&M last May.

I don't trust 40 times from high schools coaches, but I will say this; if any of you have a rivals membership and a high speed internet connection, you can watch some of Henderson's highlights from last year. The kid is greased lightning. Looking forward to seeing this guy catch a screen or shovel pass and leave some people behind.
One thing (on a list of about 100) that our offense didn't have last year was big plays. This guy can certainly make big plays.

If COach Bennett got him in the mid-4.3s on a wet grass field, then those times probably are real, and that's off-the-charts fast. His highlights at the Mustang Club thing last night were awe-inspiring. I've watched SMU football for more than 20 years, and I can't remember a player with Jessie's wheels (although I gather Fred Turner and Ervin McGee are supposed to be super-fast, too.)

I have no doubts that he is fast. But, like I said, I read somewhere that Xavier Carter ran a 4.35 which was said to be "quite possibly the fatest high school 40 time ever." Which would mean the 4.2 range is ridiculous...I am sure he is fast, but is he that fast???

Well, first off, Henderson smoked Carter's time at both the TTech camp and the Nike camp. So I'd have to believe that those numbers are pretty legit and not just HS coach or SMU propaganda. Second, when Henderson ran a 4.38 on grass, in the rain and against the wind, Coach Bennett didn't believe it either, so Bennett had him run again... And he got a 4.35. At least that's how I heard the story.
