With the possibility of losing Football commitments just before Signing Day. Happens to a number of schools. What new Football Recruits are we currently recruiting to replace anyone who might change their commitment before Signing Day? Any big names? No need to rip on our coaches, as I already recognize that our Football Coaches are not exactly known to be great recruiters. Was really just curious about any last minute potential recruits.

actually is a Huge NAME every football fan in the Country would immediately know-not sure if his kid with same name can play. Think Friend of June. There is one top national recruit that we might have outside shot at. One commit that might flip to TCU and another who might flip to UTSA and possibly Purdue. Scout has updates on all of them

According to Twitter TCU offered Jordan Ingram a few days ago

Stallion- I know you said Rivals gave out a lot less 3-stars in TX this year, but I'm surprised guys like Shelby Walker with his offer list and Evan Brown being first team 5A all state didn't get a bump. Perhaps Walker was underrated playing in run first HS offense?

Rivals recently upgraded
5 stars
4 stars
National Top 250
so maybe the 3 stars are next-I keep meaning to ask the Rivals guys about that. Suffice to say look beyond the stars because this year there are substantially less 3 stars -like 50 less so far
Shelby Walker had very few catches this year-they didn't throw much though. Maybe Evan Browm-maybe Ingram or a couple of our DBs like Gaines might get an upgrade if its Top 200. But there aren't too many kids other schools are chasing to raise their profile. I think Hyder is a decent prospect at Center

Wyatt, Gaines (if we can keep him), the Lamar recruits, and Evan Brown all seem solid. Who knows about the rest? I wouldn't be shocked if Ingram flips to TCU

Rivals still at 151 3+ stars
v. 200 in 2013
v. 238 in 2012
v. 246 in 2011
v. 248 in 2010
Texas generally produces about 360 Division 1A prospects per year

Stallion, what are your thoughts on the various sites? You know far more than me, but I know many others that put far more stock in 247 than Rivals. Agree/disagree?

I honestly don't know any one that subscribes. It always seemed like they were piggybacking off a lot of information from Rivals and Scout. I look at it but that's about it. Does any one here subscribe? Who are their Texas analysts?

By others, I meant others on other sites. I guess a chunk of the Rivals brain trust started 247. Not sure if it was the better half. I like the layout of 247 better, personally.

I've always thought Rivals was the gold standard. The SMU scout site seems to be doing a considerably better job right now than PonyPride though

Analysis on 247 seems much better. Could just be smoke and mirrors for chuckleheads like me.

Yeah you're a chucklehead. Seriously though, 247 seems to have a lot of content but since they don't have an SMU affiliate I can't justify signing up

I'd encourage you to read the evaluations on ESPN. It goes beyond just numbers and gives you a good idea if a player is considered a legit BCS player right a way, will develop into a BCS level player, a tweener between BCS and the lower set of schools, or has no business on a BCS team.

That's pretty much exactly what rivals and scout do with their rating system, its just the way they label it.
We all know you love ESPN because it makes June look like less of a bum. Yeah, it makes me feel better when it says we have 15 3 stars, but it means nothing because over there, everyone is a 3 star. Everyone in their top 300 is a 4 star. I think Stallion saying rivals only has about 150 3 stars this year and ESPN has almost 300 4 Stars. That should tell you everything you need to know about ESPN's crap ratings.
This is actually a pretty decent breakdown of how all the sites do their ratings
