Never heard of any kicker being recruited this year or any other. Any News?

Why? We keep signing top, nationally rated kickers and they wash out. Our best have been walk ons. If someone does not show up we will put an ad in the paper.

If we're not signing a kicker then I'd bet June feels comfortable in a current walk-on.
In defense of the low blow at our "nationally rated wash outs", we've offered two kicking specialists in the past decade: One kicked off for four years. The other one will do the same, while also punting for three. We offered three in the early 2000's, two of which were four year starters who set, and still hold, some SMU records. And Ryan Wolcott was nationally rated eye-candy.
Hi Wolcott.

Special teams don't matter.

Hi Wolcott.
The only record I recall a signed kicker setting was during Bennett's era. It was for most punts in a career. Morestead if I recall was a walk on. I see no defense. Just because someone has punted for 4 years does not mean they have performed up to their clippings. I do not and will not belittle specific players, but I do not know of a kicker that we recruited and signed in the past decade that has performed. We did have a transfer from another program that did a pretty good job.

At the aTm game I talked to one of my brother's former Westlake HS teammates - the guy's little brother is kicker Cody Rademacher (a sophomore transfer from Air Force). I was told Rademacher was gaining on the heels of Hover and it was the family's belief that June had Rademacher slated as Hover's back-up. Rademacher was the placeholder for most of the second half of the season.

There is a student on campus that kicked in high school and got 60 something letters from LSU to come kick. Dad was smu alum.. I played with him.
I called left messages for JJ and emailed JJ. Father emailed and called as well as the AD of ISD.
Crickets from football, nothing, not even a thanks but no thanks call or email.
Over time the JJ blossom has lost the sweet fragrance of energy in the program. Time for a fresh bouquet.
