This may seem stupid as I am new to the site but I assure you I have been an avid SMU fan for a long time. Am I the only one who thinks that Manuel would make a great slot WR? The athleticism is second to none in our program. He will not get close to pro for basketball...

I've thought the same thing, but he would be an outside receiver not in the slot.

I agree. I almost posted that as well. He is far more athletically gifted than any WR we have had in the last few years in my opinion. Vertical is amazing as well. We know he can catch from his attempted alley-op attempts.

He would have to put on some weight.

We had a good BB player when I was there. Name was Voight. Tremendous vertical. Got him out for the FB team. First practice he caught a high pass over the middle and was laid out by the defensive back. Left the field and never came back. Not saying it cannot be done but BB is a contact sport. FB is a collision sport.

Ha. Yeah, times have changed. My signature play at linebacker was to clothesline any receiver running a route that crossed over the middle in my area. Never thought twice about it. Would probably be ejected today.

Personally, I enjoyed ear holing people. That doesn't fly anymore either

Before we start calling Ryan Manuel athletic let's make sure he finishes a dunk that he starts on a consistent basis. I like Ryan Manuel as a player and see the potential of athleticism, but there have been at least 5 potential dunks this season that he has attempted that either start out dunks and end up bad misses or start out dunks and he flat out misses an easy layup. I am rooting for him and on occasion he can play some good defense. Can Manuel run and jump? Sure. Just would be nice if he could run, jump and actually finish at the rim. There is a reason that Sterling Brown, Nic Russell, and Keith Frazier are taking his minutes as of late.
