I suppose he'll have half the country after him, but OG Rami Hammad (formerly of Irving HS) says he's leaving Texas.
His yahoo! page said he had 44 offers out of high school.
6-5, 320, 5.5 as HS senior.

Well if he can play the "sick relative" card and we have a scholarship available...

Don't forget Thomas Ashcraft.

But seriously if he wants to stay close to home we could be in the picture. I imagine Texas will block him from transferring to any B12 schools and I don't know if any SEC schools would have interest

two sides to that coin

Shawnbrey McNeil SMU Offensive MVP
Garrett Gilbert SMU Offensive MVP
we had that A&M LB transfer (Chase Kennemer) in 2009 that I believe was Defensive MVP or pretty close
Marquis Frazier 3 year starter
JJ McDermont-lead SMU to 8-4 record and bowl win
SMU Basketball built on the Transfer

ashcraft had graduated, so he was free to go wherever.

McNeil only lasting a year was a tragedy, not to mention him not getting his degree. Looked up his single season numbers for SMU.

If Hammad wants to play immediately at the FBS (or whatever it is called now) level, we are probably the only team close to home. UNT plays Texas this year, so Texas would block that transfer. "Heard Hammad's soft-spoken nature wasn't meshing well with the intense coaching." June's style might be a great fit for him.

If he transferred within the Big 12, he would have to sit for 2 years.

Rivals shows that we did indeed offer him out of HS. I certainly hope we will be in the mix.

Holy smokes. Stallion is the one finding the silver lining?

Good for you, Stallion. I don't say this often, but you're exactly right. That's the thing with transfers: some hit, some miss. I would hope we at least explore the option. Does anyone know if there's another scholarship available?

Correction: b12 transfer rules state that you must sit 1 yr. if you transfer in conference. I know that from experience.

Changing SMU's old Transfer/Admissions standards was always one of my major criticisms of the old model going back to what 1998 on SMU boards. It was an absolutely necessary change. I don't think there is any doubt that June Jones would have made 2 less bowl games (2009 and 2012) and arguably even a third in 2011 without that change
