2015 Irving (TX) Nimitz OLB, Michael Scott (@kidd_fp) tells me he has decommitted from #SMU. Has been hearing from #OU #Texas and #Aggies.

This guy actually has an impressive list of offers - Cal, Colorado, K-State, Iowa, Iowa St, Minnesota and TCU. Easily the best offer list of any of our 2015 commits.

BTW, isn't his brother, Delontae Smith, also committed?

Yes, Delontae is still committed to SMU.

Would Chad Morris or Mack Brown coming to SMU help sway some of the potential losses in this class back in the fold? I mean, they committed to play for June, and those 2 candidates are massive upgrades from what we had here...

I think the new coach will first evaluate the commits to see which ones that he wants then go from there.

I'm hoping the new coach will be strong enough name to bring a few new recruits that will start the recruiting fire at SMU.

One of the problems are recruits are probably running into right now is kidding by their team mates about how bad SMU is.

Agreed Charleston Pony - but whose pointing this out to our recruits? Probably not their friends and teammates. I feel confident the vast majority of the football world thinks of us as one of the worst teams in football. I wish this wasn't the case, but I feel confident this is a fact.

So to what teams are our recruits going to flip? They have no other offers and they do have a D1 offer from us. People may be laughing at us but they should not be laughing at the players who have committed to their only option.

Not necessarily true this year:

Proche has numerous FBS offers, including Louisville, Maryland and TCU
Marvis Brown has offers from Tulsa and UTSA
McCrary has offers from Cal, Northwestern, and a bunch of G5 schools
Delonte Scott has offers from Cal, Colorado, and Iowa
Cristian Williams recently got a Tulsa offer
Galliard has a New Mexico offer

Interestingly enough, two of our top recruits, Kearns (4-star) and Ray Crockett (top 100 national JUCO) don't have any other reported FCS offers.
