Who's Got Next?

So who's next to commit? I hear there's a big visit on 1/24. Maybe we get some commits as a result there. Let's get 4-5 more high three stars (a big DT would be nice!). We've gotten 4 straight now. Let's keep it going!

What's interesting is we've gotten a solid high 3 star with real quality P5 offers here and there (Gaines, Minor, Myers, Richardson, etc) but imagine what we could do in the AAC with a class full of them (and a 4 star here and there). So, just as Ron Meyer said in Pony Excess that he wasn't looking for college players but PRO players, we shouldn't be looking to compete with the AAC for players but need to recruit beyond that and see ourselves competing with the Big12 for players (at least in DFW, east Texas, and Houston). I think that's what HCCM is thinking also ("we won't play second fiddle to anyone").

My want list starts with Josh Wariboko & Charles West.

I think we've got a better shot at West. Wariboko is likely UCLA bound, IMO.

Would also like to see Xavier Castille or Alex Honey to firm up WR

With all the tweets from the staff...campus visits in January will be exciting to follow. So much better to be deciphering all the tweets from HCCM and friends and HS players than trying to figure out what is happening in the vacuum of the formers echo chamber.

Just happy we have a coaching staff who see the benefit of recruiting

Especially in January. One of the more critical times during the recruiting process

Imagine when they can recruit the other 9 months out of the year!

I would think our most immediate need would be at RB.

Build an OL. The rest will fall into place.

OL for sure.

And DT and DBs.

Everything else is gravy in this and next year's class. Big 'uns are the iImmediate need (and a DB and/or safety). Would be my emphasis anyway.

West & Castille would be crazy. Add a couple OL and you can build a potent offense from that group.

In general I do agree with you...always build around the line on both sides. But I think with morris' offense relying a lot on a mobile qb, bigger receivers than 160 and tight ends, I think he is more willing to work with what he's got on the offensive line and bring skill guys in.

Either way, you can't go wrong. Whole roster needs an overhaul and current players need some better coaching

I agree-he needs to focus more on offensive skill positions than normal because his style of Football SELLS recruits. I'm less worried about Ws and Ls next year and more interested in installing the Morris style offense. Recruits love his offense

His biggest problems result from the change in philosophies and they are SUBSTANTIAL:

4-2-5 instead of 3-4 Defense requirements more DBs

TE/HBacks instead of mini-Me Receivers

Speed in the Backfield including Flanker position instead of blocking backs

Bigger, stronger Receivers for blocking assignments

Drive blockers rather than pass protectors

Still looking for more mobility at QB

Probably going to move some kids around to new positions to fill gaps especially those kids at positions which really don't exist any more-ie Pro-style QB, Inside Receiver, OLB, NG

Agreed, although I would add that we have quite a few LBs who fit the mold of the 5th DB rather than the two MLB. So I think MLB is a bigger issue than DB.
