If they could manage to snag one of the remaining Area Top 100 guys left on the board, that'd be huge. DeSoto DT Bryce English had an official visit last week, and seemed to enjoy it. But TCU and Kansas State are looming with official visits to come. I really like Skyline LB Malik Jemison. He'd be a great player at SMU.

Some of these college hires will change the dynamic, certainly. Bruce Chambers getting let go from the UT staff, that's a big deal for recruiting in DISD; he had some deep ties in the district. Kansas and SMU's hires will certainly mean more players from the DFW. Chad Morris has hired two area coaches on his staff, and wants to hire two more, while Kansas' David Beaty was one of the area's best recruiters while at A&M, and just hired Kenny Perry (former Arlington Bowie coach) away from TCU.

I'm sad to see Claude go. Really genuine guy, cared about his kids and that program. He's such a fiery guy, it'll be interesting to see how he relates to kids on the recruiting trail for SMU. He did such a great job relating to kids while at DeSoto; I think he's a natural fit.

Where do you think Tristan Wallace ends up?

Tech is going to have a tough time keeping Wallace, unless they turn it around on the field this season. He'll have a bunch of big schools (and enticing in-state options like SMU and Houston -- Mathis, and new HC Tom Herman, who recruited him well at Ohio State - too).
