SMU named 2015 Most Beautiful Campus ... for any college with a football team you've ever heard of (and #7 overall).

Florida Southern College (also founded by United Methodist Church) in Lakeland, FL has the pretty awesome distinction of having its buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The campus, or most of it, is a National Historic Landmark, and it's also the largest single-site example of Wright's works anywhere in the country.

Last I heard, they were running into some issues of how to repair/renovate the buildings without messing with the landmark status.

Colorado Univ was very beautiful when I was there in 1801; however, I think it was mainly
the view of the beautiful Flat Iron Mountains around the campus that helped to make it so
along with the beautiful Blue Spruce trees - especially beautiful after a snowstorm.

Now Falcon, I know you. You were not at Colorado U in 1801. Maybe 1850, but not 1801.

That was just a typo - I meant 1901.

I also want to add that SMU is growing more beautiful with the years. It was good when I
first saw it in 1968 and it is many times better today. I am a little sad in our progress though.
Before I moved to Plano in 1973 I lived at the corner of Fondren & Airline,. The house has
now been bull-dozed into a parking lot.

I agree that SMU had a pretty campus when I was there in the last century AND also today even as it gets more crowded. Development has been handled well and it is a human size. Only, how many classmates did any of us have who enrolled at SMU because the campus looked good?

Because it is in Dallas, and maybe a secure part of town, yes. Because of a desired major or program, yes. Future networking? Because the girls are cute, well that is a plus and maybe some women like the marriage prospects. For athletes, maybe you believed in the coaches, or (I'm thinking of the previous football regime) there was no other choice.

But handsome buildings and a pretty campus? What kind of factor was that?

I hope spring practice gets here quick!
