Oklahoma’s 2016 class just took a major hit.

North Mesquite offensive lineman Jean Delance announced via Twitter that he was backing out of his verbal pledge.

“Firstly, I want to say thank you for giving me an opportunity to get my education and play football at OU, but I have officially decommitted from Oklahoma University,” Delance posted. “(It had) nothing to do with the staff or team. I’ll be reopening my recruitment due to personal reasons.”

Eric Striker, the OU bada## linebacker, posted a pretty strong response on his snapchat.

Disgusting video by those OU frat clowns.

Pretty appalling that something like that could still be considered ok by a group of people. And it wasn't like one drunken outburst caught on camera, it was obviously something that had been planned and rehearsed.

Of you were going to do such a thing, either legitimately or as some kind of dark humor, why would you ever record it?

It looks like a date party, I think one of the girls recorded it. In another video you can see one of the guys waving at the camera as if to say stop recording.

Don't think it was necessarily planned or rehearsed. Not like it was a complicated song and it looks like a handful were the major culprits. It was really stupid beyond belief, made themselves look stupid and is completely worthy of expulsion - especially given the words. The issue is that shutting down a fraternity house mid year and revoking a charter is a pretty wide net - you better be sure it is an issue throughout the fraternity. I think you have to be sure something like this is endemic of the entire organization before you ruin the college experience of a group of 250 or so students. Maybe they found that out…i don't know, but i doubt it in 24 hours.

That said…i am sure we have a spot for that 4 star!!

I read somewhere that little jingle has been sung by other SAE chapters around the South for years now...but I never heard it from any SAEs at SMU during my time there

I do agree with you to an extent on the punishment thing -- if it truly was a small group of guys singing and truly not indicative of the chapter as a whole then those perpretrators should be kicked out of the chapter, but for the entire fraternity to suffer because of the sins of a few seems a little unfair. I think OU SAE is learning the Ray Rice lesson: anything bad you do is amplified 10x if caught on video.

It's a disgusting story. The Hardline did a couple of segments on it. Corby said there are rumors flying that the main guy leading the chants is from an affluent private HS in north Dallas.

I just can't believe this sort of ignorance and vile behavior is possible from an educated person.
I know prejudice exists ..... But to see such raw racism is simply disgusting.
I hope they find the guy's name and publish it. He should be held accountable and if I were him would make a public apology post haste.
While I wasn't an SAE at SMU I know many and I never heard that chant nor heard of it being said.

I think this is a case of a bunch of drunken, privileged idiots acting like morons. I am deeply offended and can't imagine how offended African Americans are by this.

If this was at SMU, Dr White and Dr Ashley would be having SAE or any other Greek house shutdown even if it was the actions of only one or two members.

After graduating from HP and SMU, this is not very shocking. There were always certain groups who flaunted this type of ignorance and ass-hattery. It's sad, offensive, and yet very rampant amongst the privileged white sector.
