I haven't found much video on Gary on the internet but he was named to the DMN Defensive Honor Roll this week and had a 16 yard Interception return for a TD
Lost out to the unusually named Bumper Pool who is a Sophomore who recently visited SMU I believe

Demerick? Where ya been my man?
Oh well worth the wait
Ladies and gentleman I finally present to you Demerick Gary's Senior season highlites. I count 27 plays, 24 are either sacks or Tackles for loss, 1 Interception returned for TD, 3 fumbles caused a couple of safeties or close (not a big fan of some of the DISD competition though). But he looks quick and has good size-another who may have had a growth spurt. Pretty great combination of length, speed, quickness and mobility-note when opposing backs try to evade him he's pretty cat-quick in pouncing on them. That's what SMU needs right now. Could be able to contribute next year at DE especially on passing downs. I wouldn't be surprised if his new video drew some new offers

Might be the most athletic DE we will have on the team once he sets foot on campus.

add in the Scott brothers, Ken McLaurin, Badejo, Noah Spears, Jordan Ward, Michaek Clark and some of the bigger frames that Morris has brought in and you can almost see what the future might look like on Defense in about 2017 or 18
Size and athleticism is on its way

Reminds me of Zelt's HS highlights. (take that for what it's worth)

I have no idea what is going on with Zelt although Billy Embody has said he has been injured on a couple of occasions recently-hasn't been listed in Participation stats in several weeks either

And don't forget about Patrick Jones.

Stallion, Do you see Gary staying at DE, at least initially?
He seems to have a frame that could hold 290 lbs and play the interior of a 4 man front...down the road.

Looks like 2A competition. Not sure if it is that bad or if he is that good. Hard to tell. He is certainly a man among boys on those videos.
Some of the plays you can discount because he isn't even blocked, not even making an attempt at him. I do like when he engages and then makes a play, but he won't be able to throw people to the side in college like he did poor number 63 on the green team a couple of times. Looks like he has good quickness for his size, and terrific hand strength. Great athleticism for a lineman also on that interception as well as a play in the backfield where there is a late handoff and he makes a last second adjustment to make the play. I don't think I would push that athleticism inside. Looks more ready physically than the Scotts did, so probably a better chance to come in and play.
With Lawler's size, I wonder if you could move him inside and just play the kids at end?

Don't think I would push that athleticism inside either at this point. Lawler's size? He only looks about 250 or 260. I think the official weigh in had him at like 253 or something like that. That would be kind of light to play DT. Not saying this will happen but Lawler on one side and Gary on the other would not out of the question imo. Unless Patrick Jones comes in a destroys it at DE.

I think Patrick Jones is for sure going to be playing on the interior.

You are probably right about that.

McLaurin will probably be the first to get a shot at DT among freshman. Jones doesn't have much video out but he's appears to be physically ready to have a shot. I bet Gary starts out at DE-could end up at DT eventually but I think he's got DE instincts and quickness. Hope he can gain some weight, keep the quickness and mobility and stay at DE. Getting McLaurin really is a relief. There is not a position on defense that we don't have great prospects from Morris' first two classes so I'm feeling pretty good about the long term prospects-quite frankly I'm always looking 2-3 years down the line. Instead of stair-steppin' down in talent like it was obvious SMU was doing over last 4 years, I see SMU stair-steppin' up in talent over the next 2-3 years. And looking to the 2017 Class, SMU has done its ground work better than at any time that I've been following recruiting.

In an interview over the summer he said that is up to 258 now. On film at 258 he still looks quick and athletic at DE. Also at 258 he would immediately be one of our top 2 biggest DE's as well as possibly the most athletic. I think this is one where everyone can agree to start him out at DE and if he flourishes there just leave him there. I also think Biggurs is one of those players that could play anywhere needed on the d line.
