Hmmmm, would SMU have taken him originally if he had a qualifying problem?

Did they actually cut him loose just because he went out to Utah State?

Doesn't make much sense based on his responses, and our need.

No biggie, we're loaded at LB anyways

Looks like he convinced them that he is 100% committed and they took him back.

Huh.

The WDNWHA committee might need to call an emergency meeting over this one.

As previously stated, the WDNWHA Committee never announces its ruling until the athlete makes his status known. We feel that is the most fair way to handle this. We have long ago ruled on this and you will see it play out in the coming weeks.

Feeling a little whip-sawed after reading this thread. Just to make sure I correctly understand the situation as it now stands, Noah Spears and SMU have smoothed things over and he is (as of right now) still a member of our 2016 class. Correct?

^^^That is what it sounds like. But it sounds like there could also be academic issues.

Also - Coach Morris got a nice DMN article that fires out the warning: "If you are committed to us and you start taking visits and we find out about it - you've just lost your spot on the team."

Doubt the recruits are too scared......especially the good ones with P5 offers and plenty of options.

Most of these kids with multiple offers want to take their visits and enjoy the experience, feed their ego, and really get a feel for the program and school. If your kid has options, what player/parent wouldn't want to do their due diligence and visit the schools up close and personal? This is a huge decision for these kids for the next 4-5 years of their lives. What would you think if you had a kid with 10 offers, and 1 of the schools said 'ours is off the table' if you take other visits?

The risk of losing better players with this type of ultimatum (if true), would seem to outweigh the benefit.
