Anyone notice Harvard has 3 basketball commits in the espn100? I know we are in on Bruno and Thompson (and it sucks that we are not in on Allen or Bolden) but dang, seems like Harvard is set to crush the Ivy and win some tournament games the next few years.

I think one reporter said that this is the best Harvard basketball recruiting class ever.

we're in pretty good shape to have an outstanding class including a huge visit tonite. Hint: in basketball there are several categories of recruits who do not fit into the requirements to be included in the Top 100-about 4 guys we are focusing on do not.

Harvard, despite not being able to offer athletic scholarships, has the financial resources to offer "no loan" need based scholarship packaged to its undergraduate students. For lower income students, the Harvard (and Yale) financial aid package will be comparable (if not better) than a D1 BB scholarship.
Bottom Line: good athletes, who have the right academics, would be wise to consider Harvard/Yale.

Don't all students go loan free to Harvard? I thought I heard that recently.

Don't Harvard and Yale have the largest endowments in the country, by a huge margin?
There has to be a lot of scholarship/grant money in there somewhere.

Yes - almost. Because Harvard and Yale have such enormous financial resources, they offer "no loan" financial aid packages to all undergraduate students except students from high income families. For most students, they end up replacing loans with grants.

Very common at small private liberal arts schools in the Northeast as well. I got a grant (not full) for my undergrad - basically a drop in cost to attend. Schools do that to maintain competitiveness. Allows students with decent GPAs but not the financial means to pay, attend the private school vs. public which they could afford. Mixes the student body with those that can pay the full price and those that can maintain higher academic standards.
